This book is really good! I, of course, watch the shows faithfully, so I decided to read this book. I enjoyed it. It's sort of like the show, yet different. It's like a different drama but the same.
So the book is basically about how they introduce the secret and mysterious "A" into Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer's lives.
Aria had just moved back Rosewood from Iceland. She doesn't want to go back because of not only the memories of her father's affair with one of his students, but also her old best friend, Alison's, disappearance. After dropping off her brother to practice, she goes into a bar to clear her head and meets a really cute guy at the bar. She makes out with him in the girls bathroom. Low and behold, when she went to English class *BOOM* the cute guy she made out at the bar was her ENGLISH TEACHER. Now Aria tries to figure a way to make them work. She tells no one of course, but A sends her a text letting her know that she knew too.
Emily is having a difficult time being the best child she could be and wishes to rebel. Still hoping Alison shows up after 3 years, she burdens her life by doing her parents wishes like her littler sister who actually enjoys it. The new girl Maya moves next door where Alison's family once lived and now slowly finds out that not only is she NOT into swimming she's not into her boyfriend Ben. Emily confesses to Maya how she felt about Alison. Emily is slowly discovering she's different then the other girls and A is there to remind her of how she kissed "her" way back in 7th grade.
Hanna lost weight since Alison's disappearance and have been trying to have Alison approve of her. She finally dates the guy of her dreams who totally dumps her at Noel Khan's back to school party. She gets into not only stealing jewerly at Tiffany's trouble but also grad theft auto and she gets a message letting her know that A knew. Hanna looses weight not the right way, but gaining an eating disorder that she still tries to fight against the urge. Being hot, thin, and popluar is way harder then Hanna expects.
Spencer lives in a perfectionist family and always tries her hardest to out do her older sister Mellisa her rival. Spencer not only had made out with Mellisa's exboyfriend Ian, but also makes out with her current boyfriend Wren. Mellisa catches them in the act and gets very upset and tell her parents. Everybody shuns out Spencer. Trying to be perfect when you're not is very hard. Poor Spencer, and to make matters worse A reminds her not to "covet" her sister's boyfriends.
At the end of the book the girls all find out that Alison is dead and was buried in her backyard. Jenna and Toby was back in town for some reason. At the end of the funeral, and four of the girls get the same text from A ' "I'm still here, bitches. And I know everything." -A '
My Opinion
This book is AWESOME! I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. I think the author did a great job discribing not only four main characters, but also the family memebers and the friends, and giving a story behind the story. When you read it's like you're there and you wanna know more. You also feel like you've been living in Rosewood all your life, like most of the people in the story. I hope you enjoy the book and tell me your thoughts on it. Email me @ respondingtojoe@aol.com or leave a comment.
